Hypercholesterolemia

1. Background/Cultural Points:

   NCDs (metabolic syndrome, related diseases) increasing rapidly in Cambodia

2. Diagnosis & Lab:

   1. Total Cholesterol and Triglycerides available at MMC
   2. Cholesterol profile available at Pasteur/Biomed

3. Management/Education/Treatment:

   1. Primary Prevention: Lifestyle management; Consider Statin (Atorvastain less side effects and similar price as Simvastatin) for 10-year CV Risk >20% (WHO Guidelines) or >7.5% (U.S. guidelines)
   2. Secondary Prevention: Statin usually indicated

4. Follow-Up:

   Review myalgias/liver toxicity concerns.
